Interior Designer, Meredith Heron, and I worked together on the design of my first daughters nursery and after having two boys before a girl – it was an exciting project! This room was featured on HGTV Canada’s blog over three segments and launched the day my daughter, Lucy, was born last August.
Now, let me just be frank about the “worked together” comment… Meredith did about 99.9% of the design BUT I influenced her direction. OR at least I think I did. I wanted this room to be girly, pink and grow with my little Lucy. I didn’t want it to be too baby because as we all know – babies are not babies for very long!
While I wanted the room to be pink, at Meredith’s prodding, we needed another color to create the right amount of tension to give the room some zing. I wanted to make bold color statements and Benjamin Moore DELIVERED. I had a Pottery Barn side table (in a wood stain) and we painted this table in Benjamin Moore Amelia Island Blue (2044-40). This little addition of the perfect turquoise completely changed the dynamic of the room & upcycled a pedestrian table into a future heirloom.
A pop of color is sometimes all you need to really make a room shine.
And I believe my daughter Lucy’s room shines to perfection. She sleeps 12 hours a night so I think she thinks so too.

Coincidentally, after a year of living with Benjamin Moore paint decks in my newly built house, and waiting for what seemed like forever for the Color Stories deck to arrive, then more dithering, today I’m (finally!!!) painting over the builder’s beige in my breakfast nook with Color Stories Lip Gloss, a super cheery coral. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/lipgloss
Forgot to mention, that is one gorgeous, but rockin’ nursery! LOVE!!! (Again, coincidentally, I’m also using aqua and turquoise to pop my foyer and master bedroom.)
